What is dust filter cartridge?
A dust filter cartridge is a device used in air filtration systems to remove dust and other particulate matter from air or gas. These cartridges are typically cylindrical in shape and are composed of a filtering material such as pleated polyester, cellulose, or a blend of cellulose and synthetic fibers.
When air passes through the dust filter cartridge, particles are trapped on the surface of the filter material. The purified air then continues through the system, while the dust and other particles remain on the filter. Over time, these filters need to be replaced or cleaned to maintain their efficiency.
Dust filter cartridges are commonly used in a wide range of applications, including industrial manufacturing processes, air conditioning systems, and dust collection systems in woodworking or metalworking operations. They are essential in maintaining air quality and protecting equipment and individuals from potentially harmful dust particles.
A dust filter cartridge works by utilizing its filter media to trap and remove dust particles from the air or gas that is being filtered. Here's a more detailed process:
Airflow Direction: The air or gas containing dust particles enters the filter cartridge. The direction of the airflow can either be from the outside of the cartridge to the inside (outer-to-inner flow) or from the inside to the outside (inner-to-outer flow), depending on the design of the filtration system.
Filtration: As the air or gas passes through the filter media, the dust particles are trapped on the surface of the filter material. The filter media is usually pleated or folded to increase the surface area, which enhances its dust-holding capacity and extends the filter's life span.
Particle Accumulation: Over time, dust particles build up on the surface of the filter media, forming a dust cake. This dust cake can actually improve the filter's efficiency by providing an additional layer for trapping particles.
Cleaning or Replacement: Eventually, the dust cake becomes too thick and starts to restrict the airflow, reducing the system's efficiency. At this point, the filter cartridge needs to be cleaned or replaced. Some systems have self-cleaning mechanisms, such as a pulse-jet system that uses a burst of compressed air to dislodge the dust cake.
Clean Air: The clean, filtered air continues through the system and is either recirculated or discharged into the atmosphere.
By using dust filter cartridges, industries can ensure cleaner air which is beneficial for both the performance of equipment and the health of people in the environment.
There are three types of dust filter cartridge.
The cellulose filter cartridge is a uniquely designed filtration device. It is characterized by its star-shaped structure which is achieved by folding a specific length of crisp filter material using a corrugation (or wave-making) machine. This distinctive shape increases the filter's surface area, enhancing its capacity to trap more particles and extending its usable life.
The construction of this filter cartridge not only includes the folded filter material, but also end caps and protective nets. These are bonded to the filter material in an end-to-end manner to ensure a secure and sealed structure.
The end caps serve to seal the ends of the filter cartridge, preventing any unfiltered air or gas from bypassing the filter material. The protective nets, usually made of metal, provide structural support to the filter material and protect it from damage.
The filter material itself is typically made from cellulose, a plant-based material known for its excellent filtration properties. It can effectively trap dust and other particulate matter, making cellulose filter cartridges a popular choice for air and gas filtration in various applications.

Applications:
Our filter cartridges have a wide range of applications. They are suitable for filtering dry and granular shaped particulate common in industries such as Metalworking, Shot Blasting, Mining, Tobacco, Chemical, Gas Turbine, and Compressor. They are also excellent for general dust removal tasks.
The filter cartridge of wood pulp fiber filter paper cannot be stored in a humid environment for a long time, otherwise the filter layer will be deformed, and the filter paper will absorb a large amount of water and increase the air inlet resistance and shorten the service life.
Pleated Bag Cartridges represent a significant advancement over traditional filter bags and cages. These cutting-edge filtration devices feature a one-piece construction design that confers multiple benefits. Whether they're used in new systems or retrofitted into existing bag house equipment, they invariably lead to improved system performance.
One of the key advantages of Pleated Bag Filter Cartridges is that they offer a larger filtration media compared to traditional felt bags. This results in a larger filtration surface area, thereby increasing the filtration capacity. Essentially, the increased surface area allows for more air or gas to be filtered at any given time, resulting in more efficient operation.
Pleated Bag Cartridges are also noted for their longevity. With a filter life that's up to 2-3 times longer than traditional 16 oz. polyester felt bags, these cartridges offer superior value over the long term. This extended filter life means less frequent replacement, which translates into cost savings and less downtime for maintenance.
The secret behind the impressive performance of Pleated Bag Cartridges lies in the pleat pack design. This design incorporates more media into the filter, effectively providing almost twice the filtration area in the same footprint as traditional filters. This high-density approach to filtration makes Pleated Bag Cartridges the ideal choice for applications where superior filtration performance and efficiency are paramount.
