**Working Principle** **Filtration Status** The shallow sand filter consists of multiple filtration units working in unison. During filtration, unfiltered water is evenly distributed through a unique water distributor. The water then flows in a laminar fashion through a filler layer of refined homogeneous quartz sand, trapping impurities. Several evenly distributed water collectors at the bottom uniformly collect and draw out the filtered water. This level flow filtration allows for high flow rates and excellent filtration results.
**Backwashing Status** As impurities accumulate in the packing layer, the internal pressure head loss increases. When it reaches a set value, the differential pressure device activates, switching the system to the backwashing state. A hydraulic valve changes the water supply direction for one-by-one backwashing, cleaning the accumulated impurities. Even during backwashing, filtration continues. While one standard unit sand cylinder is backwashing, the others keep filtering. The clean filtered water is partly used for backwashing, and the backwash effluent is expelled through the backwash drain.
